Safety Tips

Last updated: March 2026

At Pulse, your safety is our top priority. Meeting new running partners is exciting, but it's important to take precautions when connecting with people you don't know. Follow these tips to stay safe while using Pulse.

Protect Your Personal Information

Never share sensitive personal details such as your home address, workplace, daily routine, or financial information with people you've just met on Pulse. Be mindful of what you include in your profile and messages.

Stay on the Platform

Keep conversations on Pulse while you're getting to know someone. Our in-app messaging is designed to help protect your privacy. Users with bad intentions may try to move conversations to personal messaging apps, email, or phone right away. Take your time.

Before Joining a Session

  • Don't rush. Take time to chat with the group or session creator before showing up. Ask questions about the route, pace, and meeting point.
  • Review the session details. Check the time, location, distance, pace, and number of participants before joining.
  • Tell someone. Share your plans with a friend or family member — where you're going, when you expect to be back, and who you're meeting.
  • Keep your phone charged. Have your phone with you and fully charged in case of emergencies.

During the Session

  • Meet in public. Always meet at a public, well-populated location. Never agree to meet at someone's home or a secluded area.
  • Be in control of your transportation. Get yourself to and from the meeting point so you can leave at any time.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings. Keep your belongings secure and stay alert, especially when running in unfamiliar areas.
  • Know your limits. Run at your own pace and don't feel pressured to push beyond your ability. It's okay to slow down or stop.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off or you feel uncomfortable, leave immediately. Your safety comes first.

After the Session

  • Stay connected safely. Continue using Pulse to keep in touch with running partners until you feel comfortable sharing personal contact info.
  • Report any concerns. If you experienced inappropriate or unsafe behavior during a session, report it through the app immediately.

Running Safety Basics

  • Wear visible or reflective clothing when running in low-light conditions
  • Stay hydrated and bring water for longer runs
  • Be aware of traffic and follow road safety rules
  • Carry identification and any necessary medical information
  • Check the weather before heading out and dress appropriately
  • Warm up before and cool down after every run

Online Safety

  • Never send money. Never send money or share financial information with someone you met on Pulse, even if they claim to be in an emergency.
  • Watch for red flags. Be cautious of users who refuse to meet in public, pressure you to share personal details, or ask for money.
  • Report suspicious behavior. Block and report any users who engage in fraudulent activity, harassment, or inappropriate behavior.

Emergency Situations

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. After ensuring your safety, report the incident through the Pulse app so we can take appropriate action.
